In 2017 Bruce Haden founded Human Studio with Peter Atkinson. Supporting new opportunities for social connection and global health, his inspirational architecture and associative work keeps him resolutely balanced between community and creativity.
Prior to the current success of Human Studio, Bruce led multiple high-profile projects as partner at Dialog (formerly Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden), including the globally published and awarded; Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre, Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts, UBC Student Nest Building (with B+H) and Vancouver House Tower (with the Bjarke Ingels Group).
As an active member of the Canadian design community, Bruce is a founding board member of the Urbanarium, has twice chaired the City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel and assisted both Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto in setting up Design Review Panels amongst a long list of activities that parallel his 25 years of practice.
Bruce’s extensive publishing, broadcasting, teaching, advocacy and exhibition work expresses a core belief in human engagement as the central objective of good design. In so doing, his work bridges the disconnect between architecture and the humans that live, work, learn and play within it.
Bruce is passionate about human engagement as a central objective of design, both for fostering creative entrepreneurialism and for social health.
